Prima Facie is the seventh single release from the Humanness Test project. It is an instrumental written by Maurice Taylor and Chris Lucci featuring Francesco Finori (Italy) on keyboards and Pedro Ricardo (Portugal) on guitars. It is a reflection of how creative Chris and Maurice have been over the last 30 years. There is definitely a synergy with progressive music and this is the result. Something that sounds like "us". There are definite influences from other bands but this is a reflection of how we write.
“Music is for life.” I can think of no truer words. This song is about the timeless power of music and how it helps to guide us through life’s emotions and builds memories. Music offers solace when words fail. It is a universal language that connects us to our innermost selves. It helps to bring our deepest feelings to fruition. There is no better feeling than playing your music and sharing it with others. All the world is indeed a stage, and music brings every day to life. No one can take it away from you.
This is the fifth single from the Humanness Test project. It is a song that describes the human race watching reality unravel. What is unnerving is the slow devolving of discourse and the takeover of forms of interaction, but moreover the recognition that we know it’s happening. Yet, we still move ahead full steam, with very little compunction or sorrow about it, and a sense we're just blithely sitting back watching it all burn and unwind right in front of our eyes. The knowledge of this literally creates a prison of sorts, where we know we are on a trajectory that cannot be stopped, a sense of the inevitable that is a bad outcome but unavoidable. Can we ever turn away the deception that is this new reality or are we doomed to fall into it? The internet and now a form of "super-internet" is taking over how we communicate, and that is 75% of our reality. Less and less of the human experience is organic anymore. From sharp-tongued people in disguise on the internet, scamming and phishing, to AI creations of art, music, and now altered or formulated realities. There is a decreasing sense of what is grounded as we digest all sorts of opinions, mandates, and nudges. It almost feels as if we need to lock our doors, and shield our offspring from it, but we know that it is impossible, which brings a sense of dread, and uncertainty. None of us knows how it ends...
